RESCUE OPERATION AFTER EARTHQUAKE AND OTHER NATURAL DISASTER
In this Article we are going to Discuss the various methods, Technologies used by Disaster rescue teams to Safe victims and to rescue them from Affected areas.

Death due to Earthquake or any other natural disaster are very huge in number. Every year, earthquake kills thousands of people and lacs get affected severely. These disaster affect victims not even physically but also mentally.
Research work carried by US revealed that from year 2000-2019 on an average 50 thousands to 60 thousands people died only due to the earthquake and if we consider the deaths by all natural disaster whether it is earthquake, Flood, Draught etc. then the data is just unbelievable.
As we do not have any such control on these natural calamities therefore we cannot control there occurrence.
To reducing the deaths and injuries from these disaster we only have two flexible parameters:-
1) Correct Prediction of disaster (Help us to manage our activities):- This is very effective parameter on which the death and causalities depends Lets suppose that if we get to know that the earthquake or Flood or any other disaster is going to hit prior to its striking at any particular location. This will give us sufficient time to plan accordingly so that we can take effective step against it.
People can be shifted from that location along with there precious stuff so that we can save life as well as property.
We can place Disaster rescue team there prior to hitting of any disaster along with all the necessary technical equipment's so that they can manage things there.
Real example:- Prediction of Cyclone Yaas and Taukte in India alert Disaster management team and due to this its impact is reduced to greater extent.
2) Strengthening our Existing and upcoming infrastructure:- As per the research work most of the people die due to the collapse of building and infrastructures. If we can build our infra in such a way that they can resist the natural forces to some extent then the effect due to the disaster is easily reduced.
Floating Foundation, Shock absorber, damper are the few equipment techniques we can use to make modify our structures.
Apart from these two major points, Rescue operation is also play a vital role in saving the lives after the occurrence of earthquake.
Technology play very important role in rescuing victims. All over the world Research work is carried out by Scientist and engineers to develop some technology so that we can quickly and safely evacuate people from the area.
Few Important Technology Used by Rescue team:-
1) Rescue system supported by Drone
After the occurrence of earthquake rescuers actions need to be quick so that affected people can be safely evacuated for this they first need to map the entire affected area and by doing so they will get all the necessary details like severity of damage,
Drone camera will help to capture all area at a particular location and it can reach to that zone quickly where human will take much more time to reach.

These Drones also provide the actual latitude and longitude and from there several teams can carry their rescue operation separately and by this people can be evacuate easily.
Few benefit of using drone in Rescue operations:-
i) It will map the entire affected area quickly and then many teams can start their operation from different locations.
ii) Drone will provide the actual image of affected area with their real time locations so that if there is any big causality happen then team can reach to that location quickly.
iii) There will be several locations where rescuers will take much time to reach and if we use drone then we will get the complete information in short time.
2) Robots rescue helpers
After the occurrence of natural disaster, collection of information is difficult task and robots can be helpful to get information. Robotics can give 3D image of environment and also create digital map.
Robots are equipped with laser sensing technology which measure the distance also.
3) Rescue technology(Using Wi-Fi signals, Motion detection sensor and smart watches)
This technology was developed by Korean in 2018. In this technology first rescue team will conduct a quick and detailed survey with the help of drones above the collapsed structure to assess the damage and also to locate the survivors buried and are visible.
Few drones also detects the Wi-Fi or mobile signals that belong to survivors who are currently buried under the debris. After detecting the signal the person can be easily evacuated. In these cases smartwatches gives highest accuracy because sometimes mobile phone can be in different location from the survivors but hand watch will give accurate location.
After getting the location of the survivors rescuers try to evacuate survivors by clearing the debris if the are not in greater depth.
After that they create the 3D image of all the location of survivors along with entry and exit point. Primary goal is to provide food and water to the survivors from the small pipe within 72 hours by using the sound and motion detection sensors.
4) Rescue Equipment's
Rescue equipment plays very important role to evacuate the survivors under the collapsed building. These equipment's help the rescuers to remove large blocks, clear the debris etc.
Hydraulic rescue tool :- It is made by Lukas in Germany. This tool is widely used by rescuers. It is used to cut through the metal and also act as a spreader which is used to separate two things.
Air Lifting Bag:- This is used to to rescue victims from any obstacles, like if someone is stuck under heavy blocks then we can use air lifting bag to lift that obstacles so that victim can come out.
Some cutting and Excavators machinery also required there.
5) Earthquake early warning system
This system is used to give early warning signal to the people and to the disaster management team so that they can pre plan their activities in order to tackle it.
